Højsgaard fragmenter

This piece consists of nine phrases which are grouped into three movements with three phrases in the first movement, four in the second, and two in the third movement. Each phrase is either a solo for one of the instruments, a duo, or a trio for all the instruments. The pieces main focus of interest is in the play between the instruments, and all of the phrases (except the solos) move from one instrument to another, for example: in the first movement, the last phrase begins with the clarinet, moves to the double bass and then finally to the snare drum. The harmonic language is made up of melodic lines using seconds, fourths/fifths and sevenths with an underlying tonality centered around D, G and A major.
